I wanna be contented with life, as much as everybody else who does.
Ibu woke me up this morning (it was the first time she was talking to me after 2-3 days) at around 10am and asked if I wanted to tag along to this thing at Pioneer Leisure Centre, the swimming pool area. I asked what's there and she said some event with free food. That's all she could point out lah, free food. Pfft, typical Singaporean lah mak aku ni.
So I agreed and ayah sent us there with his cab (He drives the taxi every weekend for extra income). On the way there, just when we turned right at the junction (bypassing Safra), a boy waved hoping that my dad would stop and pick him up. Even when he saw me and ibu inside, he still insisted.
Ibu: Boy, where you want to go?
Boy: Uncle, can send me to Safra? (His legs were limping)
Ayah: But you can see what got people inside.
Boy: Yeah, but your "up there" green colour.
Ibu: Okay2 we send you (But by the time my father rolled up the windows and quickly drove off)
There was a moment of silence for about 2-3 seconds and suddenly, all 3 of us burst into laughter. Although I was pretty mad at my dad for not giving that boy a lift, it was funny. Okaylah, didn't sound funny when I typed it out. You people should have been there then you'd understand.
I was happy, VERY happy when all 3 of us were joking.
As if my parents were done fighting.
When my father wanted to drop me and ibu off, I saw his eyes through the mirror and they were tearing up. I didn't dare say a thing. Upon reaching the swimming complex, guess what event it was? Family day. I swear I was upset and at the verge of breaking down. And I know my mum felt awkward too.
My mum's friend invited her there, so it was only me and my mum. I was pretty down and devastated when I saw everyone in big families. With grandmothers/fathers even. All participating in family games that was organized by a company. I was envious, very envious.
I kept thinking, here I am with my mum going to an event that I was supposed to be coming in with my family as a whole. My parents, me and my brother. But my brother's at home doing his whatnots and my dad finding extra income just so that I can buy myself something nice every once in a while. So I texted my dad saying that I wish he was there and i'm grateful that all these years, he managed to feed all 4 mouths including his own and I love him.
He replied, "TQ, GOD BLESS OUR FAMILY"
